4th Annual USAG T&T
Scholarship Camp
August 5th
– August 11th, 2007
Corey Lake: Three Rivers, Michigan
The Camp
This past August brought
128 USAG and 4 Canadian T&T Athletes together for a week of training,
boating and fun found on the waters of Corey Lake, Michigan. Camp Wakeshma
was again the home base for a very successful training camp that not only
benefited the participants, but provided 10,000.00 of support for the USAG
T&T Scholarship Fund.
The Participants
132 athletes ranging in
age from 8 to 17 traveled from 20 states and Ontario Canada to make this a
special event. Additionally, a record number of coaches (23) were in
attendance to help and learn from the world-class clinicians. 24
outstanding individuals representing national team members, elite athletes,
retired athletes, previous Scholarship Camp athletes and local family
volunteers gave of themselves and their time to participate as assistant
clinicians, boating staff, and equipment managers.
Scholarship Camp
participants were well represented in Quebec, Canada this year as associate
staff and camp athletes were on board for 4 of the 5 World Championship
medals won by Team USA as well as 4 medals won at the World Age Group
Championships. In all, 23 of 74 2007 WAG team members were previous
Scholarship Camp athletes and 8 of 25 the 2007 World Championship team
members were prior or current Scholarship Camp athletes and counselors.
The 2007 USA Coaching
staff of WAG and WC included 8 individuals who have served as Camp
Clinicians.
Team Canada had
representation in their ranks from the Scholarship Camp as well. Team
Canada’s coaching staff included our tumbling clinician Dave Sandford who
has been a big hit with our athletes the last two camp sessions. Our trainer
for the past two years, Catherine Cabral, again served as Team Canada’s
trainer. Congratulations to previous camper and staff member Ashley Speed
who was part of the Canada Women Tumbling team that went to finals and took
4th in the world.
We are so proud of our
campers and counselors!!!

The
Clinicians
The staff was again
assembled from the very best USAG T&T has to offer. These talented and
knowledgeable coaches, all with National and International coaching
credentials behind their names, donated their talents and their invaluable
summer free time to insure the athletes had “national training camp” quality
instruction and training. All the coaches below all left their busy gyms,
athletes and families to give generously of themselves to the USAG T&T
Program. When you see these national coaches at meets this season, please
thank them! They surely deserve it!

The Equipment Sponsor
Ross Athletic Supply, Inc.
1-888-600-7677
Ross supplied free
of charge four Euro tramps, 1 DMT, and a rod floor with full
sanctioned required setups. Without this incredible support and generosity
these athletes would not have had this training experience and more
importantly, some athletes would not have the scholarship support this
clinic generated. Please offer Ross your heartfelt and sincere thanks when
you see him at T&T competitions this season.
For all you meet
directors, please remember “Ross Athletic Supply, Inc” for your equipment
needs. They are simply the best!!!
The Results
Through the hard work of
the camp staff and the generosity of the clinicians and sponsors, this first
full week clinic and summer camp raised $10,000 for USAG T&T Scholarship
Fund.
Recognition & Thanks!!! Camp Staffers
Rock!!!!!
Please bear with me
while I mention people, who without, this simply could never have been
accomplished. Many local friends and family (most with no official ties to
USAG!!) gave of their time and money to see these kids had a great clinic
and money was raised for T&T scholarships.
